Japanese archaeologists have uncovered three wooden pharaonic sarcophagi, dating back up to 4,000 years, Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities said in a statement on Saturday.

Japanese archaeologists have uncovered three wooden pharaonic sarcophagi, dating back up to 4,000 years, Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities said in a statement on Saturday.

The three sarcophagi were found in a very well preserved condition inside three burial shafts. The sarcophagi were discovered by around 25 km south of Cairo inside three burial shafts south of the Saqqara pyramids.
