Egypt will build its first museum for prehistoric relics, the Egyptian Gazette daily reported on Tuesday. The museum will include 1,400 archaeological treasures, currently stored by the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), an authority in charge of the country's antiquities.

An area of land has been set aside in an ancient city of Qena governorate, Upper Egypt, for the construction of the museum. Qena, home to many ancient tombs and structures, is the place where the oldest skull in Egypt was found.

The museum will exhibit the life of prehistoric men and how the first urban communities were established, and there will be displays about agricultural works and industries of ancient men as well as pottery utensils they used.
