Faience
Faience

Egyptian faience, which is a special material, and is either a substance in itself or as a glaze applied to an object usually stone. It is usually a turquoise colour, although it does come in other various colours, red, blue, green and yellow. It was designed originally to simulate lapis lazuli.

First Prophet of Amun
First Prophet of Amun

The priesthood of Amun at Karnak had huge power; the most important post was that of the High Priest of Amun, called the First Prophet of Amun. He held great political and religious power, owned a great house and large estates and was often chosen from among the king’s favourites.

Frankincense
Frankincense

This is true incense; in Egyptian it is called snTr (senetcher), it is a fragrant gum resin that occurs in the form of large tears. It is a lightish yellow/brown colour or in the case of certain varieties almost colourless. It is yielded by certain small trees of the genus Boswellia, it is found today growing principally in Somalia and Saudi Arabia. But varieties of it also grow in the eastern Sudan and the adjoining parts of Abyssinia.
